Live Webinar
Session summary
Social media restrictions and platform regulations have changed how we search for and collect information. AI offers real opportunities, particularly for scraping public content, but it is not a reliable way to reach paywalled and login-only material. Practitioners often need to go to the source: a Facebook group, a Discord server, an Instagram page, a fringe message board.

The session covers the tradecraft of establishing online personas and research accounts for OSINT collection, including the levels of persona, backstopping, account chaining, and verification challenges. It touches on key platforms but the focus is not access to any one of them. It is how a practitioner plans and develops a persona’s digital footprint to enable access across a range of platforms.
